The ProTac HL 5-X is available two ways: The ProTac HL 5-X USB is a complete rechargeable system that includes two SL-B26 battery packs with an integrated micro USB charge port; The ProTac HL 5-X includes four CR123A lithium batteries. Both feature MULTI-FUEL innovation that allows them to accept both battery types.

The multi-function, easy access head mounted push-button switch provides for one handed operation of momentary, variable intensity or strobe mode. TEN-TAP programmable switch allows user selection of one of three different programs: high/strobe/low (factory default), high only, or low/med/high.
